A Few Book Reviews....

The Thief
by Megan Whalen Turner

I had to read this book for lit, circles and at first I loathed it. Mostly because the beginning was kinda boring and I hated the main character and I was being forced to read it. But as I got into it, the book really developed and I loved it.
It's about this guy named Gen who is sent to prison, but he's offered a chance out by the king's magus. (The magus is like the king's scholar.) The magus knows the site of this ancient treasure (it needs to be stolen) that can influence another country into (possibly) marrying it's queen off to the king, and the magus would love that. But the magus shouldn't underestimate Gen AT ALL, because Gen's temper, wit, and skill as a thief.


Entwined
by Heather Dixon

This book was great. It was fresh (for it's time period) and awesome. Heather Dixon did a great job writting this and I would recommend it to everyone. It's pretty much a spin on The Twelve Dancing Princesses, but this time the girls fight back and there's more depth. I thought I would hate it because my sisters watch Barbie and the Twelve Dancing Princesses (WORST. MOVIE. EVER) all the time. But I adored it. I think a lot of girls would like it.
So, the main character is Crown Princess Azalea, who's mother has recently died of a sickness that has been hounding the queen for years. The entire royal family goes into mourning, which is a period of time in which the dead person's family grieves for a year. Azalea's father, The King, won't stop treating Azalea and her eleven sisters like he doesn't care about them. Then one day, Azalea meets Keeper. Keeper is charming and handsome, and he offers the girls to dance in his magic pavillion while everyone is asleep. (During mourning, the girls aren't allowed to dance.) Azalea and the others trust him at first, but he isn't quite who he says....


No Passengers Beyond This Point
by Gennifer Choldenko

Amazing. This book was kind of confusing and very strange, but I loved it. It would be very hard to sum it up, but it's about three siblings who get lost in a place that isn't even on the map. If you love fantasy and bizarre everything, this book is for you.


Falcon Quinn and the Black Mirror/Falcon Quinn and the Crimson Vapor
by Jennifer Finney Boylan

A book where a boy feels like he doesn't belong, I really connected with Falcon. I really liked it and was stunned when I ended the series. My friend told me I would love it, and he was right.
Falcon Quinn and his two friends Max and Megan find out their monsters and are sent to The Monster Academy in the Bermuda Triangle. There they meet other mosterous teens like banshees, mummies, werebears, Frankensteins, and a dragon. But something's not quite right. (No, duh. There has to be sonething wrong with a haven for monsters.)
My summary sucked, but everyone should read.



That's all I have for today, but I'm planning on stocking up on my reading pile at the library. :)
